Fugitive Fragments

Love’s Thunderbolt

Heartstruck1

Love’s Thunderbolt

We met by serendipity
In range of Cupid’s bow
Her eyes had fire that spun me in
Gyrating vertigo.
Her love struck like a thunderbolt
It flashed somatic heat
We knew we’d spend a lifetime close
Our sweet love to accrete.
If given chance to feel again
That thunderbolt so fissile
I’d see it now in its true guise
A surface-to-air missile :P

  1. “Somatic” and “fissile” and “accrete”: Great word choice here.

  2. Thank you for reading my poem, and a like star.I find this piece so very beautiful, your a true artist in poetry.

  3. Fantastic. Romantic.

  4. Funky-edgy poem. And the rhyme! Been a while since my brain danced from reading a poem. Thank you for the super cool ride. :-)

  5. A refreshing poem. Time and experience has made the poet view the ‘thunderbolt’ love in a different light:)

  6. You should stop avoiding it.. you are fantastic at it! xo

  7. Great sense of humour ;) I agree with your summation, although sometimes one does desire warfare!

    • Thanks Morgan. Especially for you, some tips for your warfare desires:

      • I happily let my ex take the Rav4 (I kept the Merc!).

More seriously, I think there’s a time when stuff is just ready to be written (not sure if there’s even that much conscious choice). I know there’s things I’ve yet to write about, and I’m sure it will happen one day, but for now it’s simmering. So, I really appreciate you taking on the love theme, which I enjoyed relating to – I could handle the missile heading my way, I just wish my mainframe wasn’t hacked beforehand, so that I knew when it was coming!

      • Too Funny!! LOL :)

  8. Dont be so harsh on yourself, I actually liked it! Thunderbolts are good, when hit at the right moment ;)

You certainly nailed this one down. Just a great ending! Love the humor in it, but it’s so true, isn’t it? ;)

  10. Gyrating vertigo? Haha I could have fun with that :-)

  11. Love it! I think it’s brilliant – tells a powerful story but also laced with humor – fabulous! :)

Whaddya think?

"Go into the arts. I’m not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an an enormous reward. You will have created something." - Kurt Vonnegut
